Food = My Coping Mechanism
Hey there, I’m Rachel. I write about food because, let’s face it, therapy doesn’t come cheap. I made the leap from Taipei to Hamburg in 2016, and let’s just say my taste buds have endured some challenging adventures since then. I’m currently employed in a position best described as „professionally procrastinating,“ but hey, a girl’s gotta eat. So, I sometimes write. Mostly about food. I’m also obsessed with folding dough. It’s surprisingly therapeutic. Join me as I eat through the culinary landscape of Germany (and occasionally escape back to Taiwan for a proper meal).
Now, you might be wondering (or not) about the name „Bao Therapy.“ Simple: when I’m desperately missing Taiwanese food, I make Gua Bao. It temporarily eases my „Heimweh“ (homesickness) and is, in my opinion, the best therapy (also making sourdough bread & pastry) with high ROI.
A quick warning: you may find my pictures „lousy“ or „unattractive.“ I did it on purpose – I don’t spend 10 mins capturing a perfect photo to post online. Photos are for memories. Besides, who doesn’t want to quickly bury themselves in delicious food once it’s served? (And you are hungry for sure.) There are enough pros & influencers doing that, so if you’ve made it this far, you probably prefer honest opinions over fancy pictures 🙃.
